Elephant Portrait ''Stalwart''

20"x 15"
I have been painting small for quite some time and felt that it was time to go big This one is as big as I can go at the moment, but I am quite happy with it.Shipping large watercolors can be a pain as I do not roll them into tubes but prefer to send them flat.It can be done but is extremely expensive. Anyway this "Stalwart" looks quite majestic on large scale, doesn't he? Painted in my usual style on Arches cold pressed paper.

  3. Beautiful watercolour, Arti. I love the colours! I've painted an elephant myself recently, but in a more limited palette, mainly browns. I do love elephants :)

  4. Large or small he looks majestic… I would thing the larger paintings do better in the galleries and shows.

    1. Yes I thought so,too. But I put one same sized elephant painting online and someone bought it! When I went to ship it; I found out that the shipping was huge as the paintings was a few inches bigger than the threshold so I learned it the hard way :)
