This is my first ever self portrait .....I dont know why I never attempted doing a SP, but when a great fellow artist
David Lobenberg proposed a "self portrait paint-off", I thought of giving it a try!
I did it on my 12"x9" Cold pressed paper, using watercolors. My son gave it four stars out of five..( Fifth he saves for "excellent" which, evidently it was not!)
A very nice portrait.
ReplyDeletei think it deserves 5 stars. your potraits are very good. i admire the way you put it together in watercolors

ReplyDeleteHi Arti, discovered your blog recently and I like your watercolour portraits.
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent portrait you've done, Arti. I'm so glad I visited your blog to see what you've been up to. (I like both the colored and black and white versions.)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tessa .I saw your blog and liked the variety in your work:)Welcome to my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy, for being so kind!I dont think its as goood as yours:)
ReplyDeleteHi, Arti - I think it's a wonderful self-portrait. It shows you concentrating on painting! There are so many wonderful nuances to this. The skin tones in the shadow areas are fantastic, the handling of the hair, the wonderful reflected light on the shadow side of your face--all great!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Liz, your encouragement means so much to me!I am concentrating on portraits and improving my watercolor technique these days..
ReplyDeleteA beautiful self portrait Arti. How do you go about doing this...looking at a image already taken or looking into the mirror ? Either way this is nice, but I agree with your son, while this is a beautiful portrait, this isn't your best. hence its a four on five from me as well....Thomas
ReplyDeleteThank you Thomas..five stars pave way for complecancy..so I will settle for four!Mirror portraits need a lot of adjustments of space and lighting so I settled for a sun lit picture!
ReplyDeleteLove this SP, Arti! You look very reflective. I particularly like the eye area and shading. Beautiful colors as well. I admire your ability to control watercolor so skillfully!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the WTTW too. I keep putting it off.
It is a very nice piece. Very well done, Arti.
