More Greens...

Here are two more studies of leaves and trees...I have been trying to find out how can I paint them most effectively.Trees and leaves look good in loose bold patches of paint ...good for small studies. But what happens when you go Big? Like I did on the top one!It was b-i-g, and I was determined to make it work.I tried watercolor pencils to draw leaves around the doorway. It all looked splendid ...till I dipped my brush in water......and managed to get everything muddled up!
Actually I did not finish the door after I was disappointed with the greenery. It was left as a basic wash.
Thinking of using waterproof indian ink next time....its all experiment, experiment!

  1. Arti, I really like the top piece and think it is stunning, as usual. The bottom piece is interesting in its colors. I have a heck of a time with trees and am always stunned when a piece actually comes out looking ok in the foliage area. It is a rarity for me. You, it seems, have it licked!

  2. I think they both work well, mostly from the way you have worked in the dark areas.

  4. I like your experiments. I suggest you increase the size of the brush when you paint on larger sizes

  8. Great job of exploring, Arti! Well done on both!
The soft outer edges of #1 are particularly appealing!
