Watercolor on Paper
22"x15"
A portrait of a friend with her lovely daughter.I liked the way she holds her close to her bosom and the child wraps her arms around her neck!Oozes with love and affection.
I tried big, painting on 1/2 sheet this time. The paper was Bockingford 600 gsm and I expected a lot from it, having invested grandly...not satisfied. Any suggestions for a good paper for portrait painting?I m still looking for a paper that retains the transparency of the colors and not just soaks them up.
I hope you all had a rocking weekend.Have a great week!
Arti this is so beautiful. The likeness between mum and baby is fabulously captured and the emotion between them too. Just fab. xx
ReplyDeleteThey are a beautiful pair, aren't they? Thanks, Laura.
DeleteA beautiful portrait, Arti!! Your friend is beautiful as well as her daughter..you definitely caught the love between Mother and child. Amazing skin tones on them..She's going to love this portrait!!!
ReplyDeleteYes she is fabulous, even after a baby she looks as radiant as she was earlier.I have painted her before, love her face. She loves the painting, thank uou!
DeleteThat baby sure looks like mommy! They have the same mouth. Beautiful work, but as you know, Arti, I always love your work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry, the pair is wonderful, indeed.
DeleteThe painting is great, such wonderful models for this piece. The right paper is still a mystery to me. I have good and bad times with most, regardless of the variations in cost.
ReplyDeleteThis was a commissioned work so I was a bit tight in this.
DeleteSo far I have been using Langton; in form of pads and blocks. But when I decided to buy full sheets there was only Bockingford/Saunders waterford available locally.I am disappointed in this brand.Well I am switching back to paper blocks for now...
