Everyday Art_Portrait

I10"x7"
I did this one after the little boy below...I felt I was going with colors too strong! And, I am so much in love with the 1.1/4 inch flat brush that I bought a few days ago.I loved painting the background in bold strokes with that.It was like painting in oils....I miss my oil colors....!Hopefully some day I am going to find a space where I can spread my oil colors and my canvas, painting on my dining table is not much fun!

  1. Absolutely exquisite portrait of a darling little guy. I love those background brush strokes too, Arti. What a unique look and a gorgeous end result. Sometimes I wish I'd never started dying my hair, by the way. It is a chore, for sure.

  3. This reminds me a bit of Stephie Butler's portraits. I don't find the colors too strong at all.

    1. Thank you, Crystal. The colors were kept light in this one as I thought I had used too much contrast in my last painting with the Blue background.

  8. Very expressive portrait. The edges are handled so well. I have the same issue with oils, even in my studio. The compromise for me has been acrylics, as they clean up easier.

    1. Thanks Tony..I had tried acrylic,too...but they dry up so fast.Oils give you much more freedom to work around; but yeh, they do make a mess!
