Watercolor on Paper
A fun piece in loose style watercolor.I saw this couple resting on a bench in our local market May be they were tired after shopping or just enjoying the sun. I changed the background and shifted them to a park to avoid a parked car and a shopfront behind them :)
Hope your preparations for Christmas are going in full swing.
I received my package of art material this afternoon from Ken Bromley.I have ordered Arches paper for the first time; it is so expensive! Can't wait to try it.
The painting has come out really nicely! Doesnt look like you shifted their background. I love arches, do let me know what your experience was.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vinayak,I used Arches 300 lb NOT last evening,The paper is great, though I used it for a wrong subject- delicate waterlilies!I realized later that it has much tooth and is suitable for lager brushes and big areas to fill!SO next time I am going to try a landscape:)
DeleteA wonderful watercolor, Arti...could be anyone's mom and dad! I love the colors in this one...enjoy your new paper..what a treat!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilda.I did this one just for fun .. Presently I am working round the clock on my sister's new year calendar( I am late already!)Since she wanted flowers this time, I am not in my comfort zone but trying out flowers is fun, too.I can't wait to share them all here.Wish you a happy holiday season!
DeleteYour figures are lovely. I think your portraits are excellent and will be following your blog with interest.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Polly.Painting faces and figures is my passion.Glad you liked my work.
DeleteWhat a delightful couple and wonderful scene. I like the idea of them going for a walk together to enjoy the sun.
ReplyDeleteI see so many old couples around here, walking hand in hand, it makes me go all sentimental! This couple did not exactly display affection openly, but still- its evident that they are there for each other!
DeleteWish you a great Holiday Season.
The expressions are just right. Great job.
ReplyDeleteLike any old couple..they know they are there for each other! Thanks Asit.
DeleteHi Arti. Enjoy your Arches paper - I love it. I splurged on some paper this week, too. I bought a few sheets of Fabriano Artistico. We can compare notes on paper next year. :)
ReplyDeleteOk, so I am working on flowers right now, full 12 pages for my sister's calendar! Last night I tried Arches(its 300 lb NOT)for some waterlilies. My mistake...Lilies are delicate things- and paper's texture was a bit rough and toothy. So it was not a great marriage!Still I managed a decent piece, if not exactly super!
DeleteThe paper is nice, though.Color spread easily on it.But I should not be using it for subjects having small details. For that, Langton 140 lb paper blocks work best for me.Do tell me about Fabriano when you finish working on that.
Dear Arti:) How I love your art!! I hope to be like them when I'm grow old:) Just a wonderful watercolor. How exciting the Arches paper. I sometimes buy a sheet for 5 euro's. It's better for my wallet:) It's wonderful to paint on. I hope you enjoy it too!
ReplyDeleteHello Renate.Since I am too lazy for stretching my paper, usually I paint on blocks of 140 lb!Painting on a 300lb paper is sure liberating- you don't have to worry about buckling, you can move your sheet around.I like it.Though ts quite expensive.I will be trying Fabriano soon, it is cheaper- I will have to see how it behaves.
