London Street

"12"x 9"
watercolor on paper
Something different from my side. This is from a picture I took in London last summer when Olympic fever was on- thus the flags- but I liked the way they brighten up the scene..I have been planning to do this piece for weeks but putting it off because I am really not confident about painting buildings.I would love to, but I simply can not understand them the way I do human faces and figures.I sure hope that with practice, I will be able to relate to them better in future....By the way, I like the sunlit figures and enjoyed painting these three the most.Don't you like the man in orange? he looks so cute, sauntering away in his purple pants! Actually he was wearing an orange work-suit kind of thing-(may be he was a construction worker or something like that) but I improvised a bit!)

  1. This is wonderful! I like how you've made it look so sunny - we didn't get many days like that last summer!

  2. My eyes went directly to the man wearing the orange shirt! I love the color and light in this painting, Arti! The buildings came out nice and I know what you mean...I have a hard time with buildings..they never come out realistic to me..something I'd like to learn to do someday...and of course, the flags are painted beautifully.!

    1. :) Buildings are like strangers to me, I don't know how to approach them!Should I leave them in shadows or should I paint every window and door that I see?I guess it will take some more work to find out.Thank you for you cheering me on.

  5. I honestly say this Arti, you are one of the few artists I can say this about. But I would love to have every room in my house feature one of your paintings. They are all so beautifully done and each one has a strong story or feeling to it. I find your work very enjoyable to look at and very inspiring!
