The Blue Bicycle

"The Blue Bicycle" 10"x 8"
Painting a bicycle can be a daunting task.I have always wanted to paint one and finally got around to do it.Though it does not look as I had imagined -the wheels look a bit wobbly- still, its a start!...The wall behind was my imagination,I don't know if it looks right or not.Its just that I needed an excuse to paint texture ; later I realized that it distracts from the main subject a little bit.Well...as I said, it was not easy but I liked it and might paint more.Someday I might get it right :)

  1. beautiful and I think it's perfect. I don't feel that the wall distracts at all. It has visual interest and my eye keeps coming back to your lovely bike. Looks like one I had when I was little and went by 'batgirl'. I loved flying thur my neighborhood on that thing.

  2. Well done, Arti!! I think if you use more yellows, oranges and browns for the wall, it will be perfect.

    1. Yeah you are right- but I started with the wall, actually; and put in all the blues and purples. Then I thought I would make the bike blue!I think I am going to retry this piece with a different treatment.

  3. The piece looks great. The wall if darker might have created a few more soft edges for the bike to blend into, rather than float. The details could have been possibly blurred a little too, to avoid so much accuracy in capturing all elements of the bicycle. On the other hand if you hadn’t commented, I’m not sure we viewers would have even noticed the few details mentioned.

    1. Thanks Tony, I realize now what has been bothering me.May be its too detailed and looks like a prop.Next time I will try to make it lighter and the background darker-perhaps loosing a bit of detail would do me good!

  4. You did a BEAUTIFUL job Arti! I love the blue colors, and the wheels don't look wobbly at all! I have painted two bicycles and swore to never do it again. They are so HARD! Give me a face with natural curves any day. ;)
