Emu Watchful

8x12
I painted this handsome guy this morning, something to be proud about- as it was not even 11 am when I finished the painting.I thought it was time to experiment with some color in the background and though it was scary  working wet-in-wet with all those feathers sticking out of his head and neck; I am happy to have pulled it off!The whole painting looks good with the subject lighter than the background.

    1. Thank you Kathryn. Its strange that we work so differently yet like each others' work .My best work is produced when I do it in one sitting. If I tinker about a painting, or decide to 'layer it up' a bit- its bound to be a failure! You on the other hand, build up your work gradually yet produce brilliant looking paintings :) Glad that we are friends!

    1. Thank you Hilda, the background part was actually quite scary. At one stage I was convinced that I have spoiled everything ;) but now I am happy that I still went ahead and finished it.

  5. "Painting looks good" is a serious understatement, Arti. This emu looks just so gorgeous. I was attempting wet in wet a bit yesterday and all I get is color that goes where it wants to go. I need to work at it more.

  6. It's beautiful, and that's coming from an Emu Farmer - Songline Emu Farm - where it's good to be an Emu!

  8. You painted that whole piece this morning!? I'm in awe of your skills and your artistic nature Arti! You put a special glow into each piece that you do.
Sorry I deleted my comment a second ago, I spelled your name wrong, and I always hate when people do that to me, so I started over. :)
