I spent the whole of this Saturday in London, starting at 5.30 in the morning as I had another exam at about 8 am.That went quite well (and I am happy to say that now I feel quite relived; free of any worries and ready to indulge big time in to painting!) after finishing with it we( me and hubby) still had a whole day ahead so we decided to go to central London and were lucky to catch the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours 203rd Watercolor exhibition on its closing day at the Mall Galleries
There were numerous wonderful works from artists all over, many of them so meticulously painted- actually most of the works on the display were quite large scale and very detailed - I am now left questioning my own ways. Am I too relaxed? Do I rush my paintings? Is my work good enough to hang in a gallery like that?..well, this visit has done what it should have done; got me thinking again.Time to take my art to another level, may be?
I am not talking about changing my style, but definitely thinking about being a bit more thorough.
I might start one or two ambitious paintings very soon and see where it takes me!

  2. I don't think your art is "too relaxed." I think it is what watercolor should be - loose and spontaneous looking. It's good to strive to be something more, but you are better than you think you are...

Thank you for your inputs x

    1. Hi Kathryn I usually work alone and for past six months I haven't been able to attend any life drawing sessions- so have not met any artist either.I was kind of feeling that I was in a rut.Painting animals is what I love and I will keep doing that. But after seeing those hundreds of wonderful paintings, I am now inspired to try some more venues.More is better, right? x

  5. Arti, keep learning, sure, but don't worry about how good your art is. You do good work. Your best art will come when you are true to yourself and your own style even though, over time, everything will evolve and be influenced by studying other people's work. Do what makes you happiest and notice when one of your finished painting thrills you. That's the direction you should go.

  6. Arti, I'd give a lot to paint like you do. Your work is good enough, never fear. But fun to know you got out and got motivated too!
