White Rose in Pencil

The rose is beautiful in any form, so I though it would look good in pencil drawing, too! Started this drawing about two months ago, than abandoned it halfway (too much work, and my patience was thinning!) But finally decided to push it - and here it is!The background has multiple layers of grapic pencils, so that the flower stands out.Pencil art is a lot of hard work and I am finding it more and more tough to handle since I started watercolors--as watercolors are instantly gratifying .
.....Anyway, pencil drawing has its own charm, and like a mother of two, I can't really say which one is my favourite:) I can't recall how many hours were spent on this piece- may be 20 or more!

  1. Arti, this is just amazing! Worth the 20 hours spent rendering it, I would say! I'm glad you finished it.

  3. When i saw the thumbnail, i thought it was a pine cone. But i read the title and clicked the image to have a better view. It looks like a white luminescent rose in moonlight! Amazing what a pencil can achieve!

  4. Hi Arti,
Your rose really stands out. Really a beautiful work of art. Yes i can see why it takes a lot of patience and many hours to do. I should add that were hours well spent. Plus look how happy you will be when returning to your watercolors again!

  5. The drawing is wonderful. Very few will realize how many hours were spent. I have the same feeling when I spend time on a pencil drawing. It takes so long and too many will think it's still just a pencil drawing.
