Primrose

Have been trying out a few things lately.Pity that most of the attempts did not turn out as expected, thus, not shared here.One of them is town scapes.I would love to have the ability and flair to produce a beautiful looking towns cape.Britain is full of natural beauty as well as man made structures that catch your eye every now and then...it feels such a waste if you can't lay it down on your paper! I have been trying without much success....at the moment, it seems like a tough task.I do not know where am I going wrong-I just have to go by instinct...but I do hope that with time, and a few more attempts, I am going to find the magic key...

This is not what I do everyday...painting flowers!But I am doing it right now, round the clock.My sister decided that this year we will be having flowers on her calendar.I am so short of time that I could n't even do some trials to see in what style I am going to paint- we just started off. Now its 'free-style', I guess! I am on my eighth page today.Have to finish all of 12 by Sunday.I will be sharing them all here very soon.

We are not having much sunshine here lately, yesterday was very cloudy and it has been  raining again since last night.This picture was taken under the light of my table lamp.The colors look yellower than they actually are but its the next best thing I can do.

Blooms -Art Everyday_3

Some more blooms...more experiments with textures; it goes well with this subject!I have used salt on this one to create some interesting patterns.Any more ideas, anyone? .The picture is cropped short as I used a page with some pre existing colour smears...I hope its good enough for everyone to see what it is.

Cherry Blossoms

Another Alla-prima in oils. It took about 40 minutes to complete. I think the only way that I can stop myself from overdoing a piece in oils is to finish it in one go!...
I always wanted to paint white flowers...these cherry blossoms were an obvious choice!I have used a bit of knife on petals, for creating light.

White Rose in Pencil

The rose is beautiful in any form, so I though it would look good in pencil drawing,too! Started this drawing about two months ago, than abandoned it halfway (too much work, and my patience was thinning!) But finally decided to push it - and here it is!The background has multiple layers of grapic pencils, so that the flower stands out.Pencil art is a lot of hard work and I am finding it more and more tough to handle since I started watercolors--as watercolors are instantly gratifying .
.....Anyway, pencil drawing has its own charm, and like a mother of two, I can't really say which one is my favourite:) I can't recall how many hours were spent on this piece- may be 20 or more!

Dancing in the Sun

Semi-abstract sunflowers...trying to loosen up a bit ( so much so that did not paint the stems!)! Experimented with colors also.Replaced the green of background with a more contrasting blue ...and gave the same treatment to the browns of the centers of flowers.Does it work?....

Purple and Proud

I love these Coneflowers..one of the reasons why I spent hours on this painting in this heat ( 37 C) and humidity; sweating all over! Acrylics dry so fast that I didn't even run the fan !
Thinking if its good enough to send to Following the Masters challenge! May be I will...

Sunshine Lilies

Hi..trying to get back into the groove.....it feels like ages since I posted my last painting! I was stuck without my Internet for more than two weeks.. and I am amazed at how it affected my painting. I just didn't feel like painting because I couldn't share it with anyone --- what was the point!?...
Well now things seem to be getting better so I am posting this clumsy attempt at Lilies.These were white with a little tinge of yellow. Its already tough to paint flowers in watercolors and I foolishly chose a big size....I couldn't manage the details very well ..so it has come out as disappointment! Still I have got to post something, so here it goes. Better luck next time:)

Happy in the sun

I clicked this poppy swinging proudly in a James Park cluster..It was a favourite among the photographers there- everybody stopped to have a look; it was so beautiful! I have tried this on a very small size cotman watercolor paper 6"X4" and used Winsor and Newton watercolors here.
