We went to see the harbour city Portsmouth last week.Arjun doesn't like walking around very much and by the afternoon, he was tired...You can imagine how tough it was to drag this guy along!
I drew this last night from a photo that I took of him that day.I would call this " Mom, I am tired!" :)
This is a 15 minute charcoal sketch on normal printing paper A4 size; all I could manage whole last week, as Arjun had his half term holiday and hubby had also taken leave from his work!

Another gorgeous portrait, Arti. Maybe you didn't get a chance to do much art last week but you sure managed a piece that you should treasure always. Amazing how fast our kids grow up, isn't it? Hope you had time for some fun while the guys were home!
ReplyDeleteThis is really beautiful. The expression of tiredness is perfect and so is the form Cant believe you could manage so much in just 15 minutes. This is from the top draw.
ReplyDeletevery nice and unpretentious.I like all your portraits.I am planning to do one for my son and myself and will be taking inspiration from your work, if it comes out any good I will post it on my blog and will dedicate it to you.
ReplyDeleteMy story was also the same last week due to half term and could not get my hands on my pc which stores all my paintings, now I am free.
Fabulous portrait of Arjun, Arti! His expression looks like he is saying exactly that - I'm tired. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry.I know, spending time with my son will be a luxury in coming years, as has stepped into teenage ...In fact he has started drifting into his own world now, which makes me sad!One of the reasons why I dragged him with us to visit Portsmouth- just wanted to enjoy some family time together. It didn't interest him, though. He wanted to be home to be on his laptop /Playstation :(
ReplyDeleteThanks Vinayak. It is not a great sketch, I know..even the resemblance is not there-I just liked the expression and wanted to capture it quickly..thats why I used charcoal-I am loving this medium, its fluid, stark and smooth- have to explore it more.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jyoti..I know its hard for us moms to find time to paint with kids at home! When both of the guys are at home, like weekends/holidays-his Dad hogs the TV, and Arjun hogs my laptop as he can't play on his PS3!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathryn, glad you liked it:)
ReplyDeleteThat's some very nice work Arti! I recognized your son straight away. ANd 15 minutes is extra impressive!
ReplyDeleteArti, fantastic portrait
ReplyDeletebeautiful sketching Arti..
ReplyDeleteThank you Crystal...I am always rushing.Sometime I wonder how I manage to draw 10 hour portraits!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fernado and Rupesh.
ReplyDelete15 min? really? Wonderfully done!
