Restless

Restless, watercolor and pastels on paper
12"x 14"
I am posting after a long time today and its not in a very cheerful state of mind. This Saturday I received a very sad news of a dear friend having died untimely in a road accident.I painted to divert my mind and to ward off the tears that evening. They still threaten to roll down, every now and then , as I think of him.I had known him for 20 years.I would describe him as a restless soul, naive,a man-child,trying to fit in the world as it outsmarted him in so many ways. He couldn't achieve what he aspired for and many people considered him a loser. Not everyone gets the golden pot at the end of the rainbow.I liked him despite all those flaws and he cared about me.Thats all I know.I want to remember him as the friend who would lighten up my evening whenever we met, who would laugh and sing songs that he wrote himself.
May be he is better off in another world..
Thanks for listening.

  1. Oh Arti; I am so very sorry for the loss of such a good friend. You know, I hate that the world labels people "losers." This is a common word in my own family and it is disheartening to say the least. Someone who doesn't break any laws or any one by their choices shouldn't be labeled a loser. This man sounds like a good soul and the world outsmarts so many of us, so often.

I love the your painting and I will say that you've captured that sense of restlessness beautifully here.

Please accept my sympathies and condolences.

  6. Hello Arti. Although I'm very late with my comment, I wanted to say a little word. I'm feeling so sorry for you. Let your tears go if you want to!
The painting you made shows exactly what you are going true at this moment. The expression on the face fits so well with this situation. A look into the infinite. I wish you a lot of strength. Big hug!

  8. Oh Arti I've been a bit remiss in not popping over sooner as I catch some of your work on FB now. I was sorry to hear your sad news but I was also glad to hear that you gave this poor lad a chance when he was here. As you say we can't all be perfect. Things are never black and white with human nature. There is just lots of shades of grey. We all walk on both sides of the grey and as you say we don't all aspire to be someone either. So hearing your tale tells me how soft centred you are as a person as you do give people a chance regardless of who or what they are. Just take heart that he had a good friend like you when he was here. Fabulous portrait Arti but that goes without saying with your work. Take care. xx
