Having bought Quinacridone Purple from W& N recently, I though , ''why not try a cityscape with this"...!
The paper I used was Hahnemuhle(NOT) which worked very well for my elephant series. But it turned out that this paper is not ideal for washes. So my first painting failed miserably!
I painted the above scene afterwards, primarily to use up the color on my palette and also to boost my sagging confidence!Combined it with cadmium orange and a hint of cobalt blue. The purple is quite intense -- I like it.At least the session of more than two hours was not wasted.
hi Arti, the painting looks amazing and also i love your art blog^_^
ReplyDeleteThanks Devendra.I am glad you enjoyed my blog!
DeleteI LOVE the new purple! This is gorgeous! Arti, you have such a talent for putting colors together in your work! And how very wise of you, to paint something you're comfortable with, to get over a less than satisfactory experience at your easel. I will remember that strategy. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine. This color is intense and staining; but beautiful, if handled carefully.I think if you leave the easel with a failed painting, you tend to avoid coming back any soon! That's why I almost NEED to have a decent result after every session :)
DeleteWonderful painting… Glad painting session was saved☺
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony..these elephants don't usually disappoint me!
DeleteArti - these colors are so good together. I love that purple and your elephants are magnificent. Hope you have a great day and thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJust the good old purple and yellow,Debbie.Glad you like the results. Have a great Sunday.
DeleteVery amazing !!!
ReplyDeleteArti, I can't imagine any of your efforts not working. This is another beauty and my love for elephants grows deeper each time you paint them.
ReplyDeleteThat's so kind of you ,Sherry.I do throw away a lot of paintings,though...But I am glad other people have started liking these elephants- I just love them.
DeleteHi Arti! I could imagine an elephant book. You know, a coffee table book full of your elephants. I love how these two are tucked in together. Elephant love. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie..may be we could both collaborate on a book some day with your writing skills and my painting....:D
