Heron

I am back after a considerably long absence. Missed you all!
This is a watercolor on a postcard , the heron captured in soft sunlight of mid-morning.
I have been reading a lot about the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico. I have always hated man's interference with nature and this is a glaring example of what this could result into!

I am adding this painting to Suzanne McDermot's spirit-of-gulf-challenge. as suggested by some blogger friends.

  1. So beautiful, Arti! I am awed by how perfectly you've captured the morning light around his head.

I just love the way you have done the eye and the textures on the body of the bird.

  4. Welcome back Arti! Beautiful work. Herons are also here in Italy, they are beautiful animals, I often see them in rice fields.
    Ciao!

  10. Beautiful Arti, Some artists are doing work to raise funds for the oil spill after effects. You should check into it. They have their art on zazzle.com. Carol Carter, Paul Jackson and a bunch of others. Your Heron would fit into the cause. Great job!
