Passion for Painting Award

I thank you fellow artists Anne Marie propst and Lesley Spanos for presenting me with this Passion for Painting award, created by Kim Ratigan. Needless to say, I am delighted and honoured.
Have a look at these artists’ blogs for some wonderful pet portraits and landscapes….
I have been asked to pass on this award to seven other artists. Now, this is the tricky part! How do I choose among all those gems? But I have to continue the chain, so here I am—with seven of the brilliant artists whom I have found in this wonderful world of blogger artists.
Now I have to write down seven things I love:

1. My son Arjun and my husband manik—the two guys of my life!
2. Painting and sketching…it perks me up anytime; even if it is for myself only!
3. I love morning walks in park and after-dinner strolls with my husband where we go on talking about just anything on earth!
4. Reading –i love to laze around with a book (fiction, mystry/short stories) whenever I feel tired or stressed..it relaxes me instantly.
5. A work completed...I love the feeling of elation when I complete a job, a painting, or anything!
6. Nature…always an inspiring and calming influence.
7. Company of fellow artists …my newest love ; blogging —It rejuvenates me.

Different Strokes From Different Folks

This was my entry for the Different Strokes from Different Folks challenge. Although I admit that this was not my best effort, but rather an experiment!......I tried my son's oil pastels on a drawing sheet and I was finished, it looked good enough to send....Anyway, I did it just to be a part of the challenge..and that purpose is solved!

Rishikesh pics

This man was selling a stencil made of a plastic ring and some plastic disks. The disks have holes in them at strategic places.and one can put his pen through the holes and move the discs along in circuler movements to produce beautiful patterns!I used to love this toy a lot when I was Arjun's age....its a local favourite here....Now he is enjoying it! Mind you, its not easy!I made some really weird patterns while trying to teach it to my son!

The Ganga

This place is called "Swargashram", meaning -"Heavenly Abode"...

Both banks of Ganga river are joined by a narrow hanging bridge that you can see at a distance here.

An old boat resting on the bank. Only other way to cross this river ....

People enjoying a boat ride in the deep waters of this holy river.

Back from Rishikesh

Hi everyone...I missed you all during these 5 days! I would have loved to stay for some more time-- the weather was so good and everything was so beautiful...but I had to come back sooner than I had planned due to some obligations of work! Anyway, I took full advantage of my trip and tried to take some good shots as I had promised.
First of all, the banks of Ganga river....

The flower sellers ...

The sadhus soaking in morning sun...

The flowers for devotees....

brothers_2

Here are the "Brothers" again, this time in acrylic on canvas board. It was a fairly difficult piece and I am still not satisfied with it.The pose was unusual and the big guy's face was the most challenging face I have done so far!...Still, here it is.

Colors of HOLI

Today we celebrate a festival of colors and fun...Holi. Holi is celebrated to welcome spring and it is marked by the spirit of pure fun and enjoyment.People go out and meet each other, sprinkle colors and put Gulal on each other, share sweets and have lots of fun on this day.
Arjun, drenched in colors, poses with a friend, who looked like an angel...she was named Angel, too!

Brothers_1

As I said earlier, I found the "brothers" theme quite appealing. This is my first attempt here--in water colors....I have also used poster (opaque) colors from my son's color box at some places, besides the usual photo colors. Photo colors are very bright and transparent but i find them hard to control in places where detail is needed. Also, where i need to put darker shades in large areas...It was an attempt , after all!:)

Brothers

This is an extension of earlier post about spring. My nephew has been visiting so I took him and my son to the park with me...they look barely awake here! But the "brothers" theme looks cute to me. I am going to paint them soon....

Spring

Spring is here and flowers are in full bloom...these are the images I took in our local park where I go for a walk in the mornings...Today I went a little later ,when the sun was well up and everything looked bright. I am not a pro with recognising flowers but first one look like pansies, and last one is bottlebrush (this i know for sure as there are plenty of these in our locality) They bloom in March and look very beautiful!

Couldn't resist sharing them...

Mybook

I got two minibooks published today on sharing-books.com! It was in collaboration with Jennifer Poulter who is a seasoned author of children's books.I met her recently on Jacketflap.com which is a very useful site and meeting ground of all literary people--authors,illustrators, publishers etc....
We got along pretty good and before I knew it, I was doing illustrations for her poems! It was pure fun...I converted my water color paintings into posters for her.Anyone can see them at
