Zebra and the Donkey

Painted this cute donkey form an old picture that I took in a local farm.More use of my new deep scarlet , as you can see! It goes so well with the purple; doesn't it?

I do try to paint a zebra in black and white but it doesn't work and I always end up using a color. This time it was Deep Shadow Violet by Daniel Smith.I added Payne's Grey for darker areas. No black, after all.

Zebra Watercolor

A4 Watercolor  on Arches Hot Pressed paper
I have been absent for quite some time from my blog. It might be due to that fact that I have been feeling rather uninspired lately.May be because of a few disastrous paintings..I really don't know why. I have been experimenting a lot but not quite getting there.Still hopeful, though that there might be light at the end of this tunnel. Trying hard to get to a place where I feel satisfied with what I have done. In the meantime I painted this zebra at the request of a lovely lady who bought it as well.
I know this is something that I do well, but what I want is to be able to tie all this up with a nice background so that it looks like a painting, not just an 'animal portrait' - if you know what I mean.
Well I hope all of you are doing well.See you soon!

I had neglected to post this one, done sometime in July this year.I don't think I will ever tire of painting zebras..this one is lean and handsome; I have tried cobalt blue dropped in burnt umber with hints of burnt orange.

Meanwhile the brown horse and this colorful hare have been SOLD recently,on artfinder.com

Suave Zebra Portrait

Yesterday's work..another addition to "purple Stripes'' series. In my opinion he is by far the most handsome of them all! I manged to paint him on Sunday as hubby was out of town and I suddenly felt like I had so much time on my hands :) In fact ,nowadays  if I don't get a painting done, I start feeling cranky by the evening!
