Two cute little guys I painted recently..I believe it was an excuse to work with my new Daniel Smith Deep Scarlet;  it it was combined with  Dioxazine Purple..Love this combination!

Morning has been quite productive today.I started the basic wash on the Three Ladies painting and as it dried, painted a dog and a cat! ( they will feature in tomorrow's post) a good way to use all the paint on my palette ..and practice never hurts!

Here is the progress on Three Ladies...

I have used some masking fluid on the parts that need to kept light- don't want to break the flow of paint in order to save the whites here. Basic wash was meant to be neutral but I jut can't help dropping in all those lovely colors...so it was a mix of burnt sienna, burnt orange, french ultramarine, a little bit of yellow ochre and on the lower art-- Payne's grey mixed with a little opera rose. I don't mix my colors on the palette- though I have heard that its a good practice.I like to drop them individually and let them find their own place on paper.

I had neglected to post this one, done sometime in July this year.I don't think I will ever tire of painting zebras..this one is lean and handsome; I have tried cobalt blue dropped in burnt umber with hints of burnt orange.

This brown hare seems like he is trying to lose himself in his surroundings I have used some dry brushing and texture on his fur, in contrast with the wet in wet softness of background- but still he has managed to merge!

Bought the rough paper for the first time.Usually I prefer NOT or Cold Pressed.

First painting was a failure as I tried to paint in the same way as I did on a NOT. Disheartened at first, I tried to loosen up a bit more and painted another one.The bottom one. All wet-in -wet and fresh; no going back and correcting.The result was not bad and today I tried one more- the  painting on the top is the one- and I like the freshness of it.

Don't use rough paper if you like small details.It works best with wet in wet technique where you do not care about details and the all that matters is the final impact.

Its Spring time here, after a long spell of cold and rainy weather- I can't help feeling sugary sweet. Last five days have been full of sunshine and I manged to send three artworks to new homes..gives me a reason to be happy! I hope all of you are having something to be happy about.

This is a Brown Hare ( a Native British Hare I think) painting him was fun;and I will be painting more of these beautiful and agile creatures...brace up for some serious cuteness!

Hare they Come...

Latest small paintings of  Hare.Springs is here so they can't be far away. These Brown Hare are mostly found in Europe; and a common sight in British countryside.They are Brown with white belly, but I have made use of some artistic freedom and added pink and blue to the brown- even made bottom two white!

After the long winter months there can be few sights more uplifting to the human spirit than the spring-time antics of these delightful creatures.
