Dairy Milk

16" x 12" Saunders Waterford Paper
Falling behind in posting, again! Well this one is the latest from the herd. I admit that I love painting the snouts so cows will start to appear more frequently now.I really enjoyed painting this one.Mostly its just cobalt blue and some pink rose mixed on the paper to create the effect of purple. And a bit of  yellow ochre on the rest of the body . A friend of mine mentioned that she looked like a ''Cadbury's cow" as she looks perfectly purple like the brand color of Cadbury.

Look into my Eyes

9x12
My next donkey portrait.Previous two have already been sold so I think he is very popular...!He is the same guy I had met at a local farm a few month ago.I had taken this picture as he looked up to me and it seemed like he was smiling :) Loved this expression.
I hope you all are having a great long weekend and some quality time with your families.

'Hayday' Donkey Portrait

A slight deviation, but we are still in the same company! I love these peace loving, cute animals. This one I saw in a local farm sometime ago.I have painted the background this time...do they look better on white or with a background..whats the vote?

Black Sheep in Watercolor

"Not Sheepish..."
10"x 8"
Last afternoon's work...I am still looking for a perfect plan to handle animals with fur- but that hasn't happened yet.Till then it's 'trial and error 'method. Even this piece was brought back from the brink of disaster- just in time!
This black faced sheep looks quite confident, not 'sheepish' at all!
By the way, this painting was done on a new paper that I ordered recently, Hahnemuhle Anniversary Watercolour Block 425 gsm.I have used this brand for the first time- and I must admit it was a great paper to work with.Textured, but did not 'drink' the paint like some others do.I think I am in love with this paper.Just hope they keep producing it.

I am kinda stuck with this purple- need to experiment more. Can anyone suggest a Blue to try?I have cerulean, Ultramarine(green shade),Turquoise,Cobalt deep for now- anything else that I should try? All suggestions welcome.

The Gathering

Watercolor, 10"x 8"
After a few blissful weeks, I have started coughing again. The GP seems clueless, she has now referred me to the specialist- I just have to wait for the next appointment.Did not want to burden you all with my health issues, folks, but I did just that ;) My apologies.
Anyway since I have nothing better to do I forced myself to finish this piece this morning.Have you noticed, how quickly you fall out of groove when you stop painting even for a few days?I had to throw away two sheets of paper before I completed this- but I am happy that I finally was able to tame this small gathering of goats! Thanks to Mary R Vogt for this beautiful picture.

Everyday Art_7

Some more play with color.
I know, this cockerel looks like Jean Hainse cockerels.I must say I like her work and I like to paint in the same way! But this was not an intended copy; I was using my imagination and this happened :)
