Woodlands Watercolor
9x12
My baby steps with tress..I love to paint all living things..so trees also qualify!Though I would love to be able to paint them perfectly someday..well, this one turned out not so bad after all, and I am posting it here.Next time I will be trying to achieve the effect with even less brush strokes.I want my colors to merge effortlessly into each other..actually I am striving for 'no brush' effect ; just colors dropped into each other.Lets see...

Primrose
Have been trying out a few things lately.Pity that most of the attempts did not turn out as expected, thus, not shared here. One of them is town scapes.I would love to have the ability and flair to produce a beautiful looking towns cape.Britain is full of natural beauty as well as man made structures that catch your eye every now and then...it feels such a waste if you can't lay it down on your paper! I have been trying without much success....at the moment, it seems like a tough task.I do not know where am I going wrong-I just have to go by instinct...but I do hope that with time, and a few more attempts, I am going to find the magic key...
Meanwhile, you may enjoy these Hawthorn flowers.Spring is around the corner, we had a few really nice and sunny days last week. Hope you all have a great weekend.

watercolor Studies
It has been a long time since I posted here.Have been busy with my animation work lately..
These two tiny studies are what I did this morning.Top one is an old door set in a brick wall surrounded by bushes and vines..I took this snap in the courtyard of the local church building here and have been wanting to paint it for quite some time. The reason of putting it off- all those leaves making me nervous!
This is a postcard size study- just to see if it can be developed into a bigger painting.
Second one is a shot from our neighbourhood park in a bright and beautiful morning light. This was a little challenge- combining the light of sun with the dark of shadows. This one is also on a postcard.
Hope all of you are doing good...its time I paid a visit!

Flying Colors
A butterfly for James! This is my submission for James' Windows to the Words' art blog's May theme. For me, these tiny insects can be more tough to paint than a human face ! What you see is my second attempt...threw the first one away:DWatercolor on postcard

Red, Green and Violet
In my opinion, its some variety of coleus plant. The one that I am having at my home is red with narrow green edges. This one is more green. But one thing is for sure, I love this plant! It has most beautiful leaves I have ever seen.
This is perhaps my first serious attempt at leaves, and it was intimidating..Leaves are tough creatures to handle and I am yet to be friends wih them:)
I was contemplating whether it was good enough to post, than I decided to leave the judgement to you!

Blazing
These Poppies were swaying majestically in our neighbourhood park...couldn't resist them, even though I am not a natural with flowers.

Just Colors
I am painting the flute player in oils now, started it today only. It will be a bit different from the watercolor one I presume. Meanwhile, posting this small work. I was testing the fluidity of various pigments and their merging pattern, and this image took shape. I added hookers green to create some negative shapes and it looks like a flower bush now:)
